In the world of vacuum cleaners, there can be an amazing amount of confusion, especially when trying to decide which model will work best in your home. For some, the process of pulling a bag of dirt out of the unit has them considering a bagless vacuum cleaner, mainly for the extra suction efficiency they profess. Considering how the suction-based vacuum cleaners work, the bagless vacuum cleaner may have an edge over keeping the dust and dirt inside the machine, if not an edge over its power to pick stuff up off the floor, and the user can see when the chamber gets full.

The vacuum cleaner has undergone a lot of changes over the past century but the one part that still seems to befuddle manufacturers and consumers alike, is how to prevent the particles of stuff picked up from being blown back into the room. Additionally, when the bag gets full, or the chamber on a bagless vacuum cleaner, the efficiency suffers, reducing the machine’s ability to clean.

Some of the most efficient cleaners have one fan close to the pick-up head that pulls the dirt into the machine with the air going through a filtering bag. The bagless vacuum cleaner operates on a similar basis, but the air is directed into a chamber containing a filter in its core to prevent it from going back into the room.

Bagless Does Not Mean Dirt-less

Consider that every vacuum cleaner needs to have a filtering device to keep the dirt trapped inside, having a bagless vacuum cleaner does not mean the end of dealing with the remnants of what was on the floor. In most of the bagless vacuum cleaners on the market, the dirt is blown into a chamber and the air flows through a filter, typically in the center of the chamber, and back into the room.

If using an upright bagless vacuum cleaner, it is easy to see through the usually transparent chamber, that the it is getting full and the filter needs cleaned or replaced. There may have been some misconception with consumers that a bagless vacuum cleaner did not require cleaning out as often, but depending on the type of activity in the home, will need cleaned as frequently as a vacuum that uses bags.

Many believe that the bagless vacuum cleaner, since the air does not go through the filtering bag, can provide more pick up power more efficiently. On the surface this may appear logical, but a dirty filter, heavy dirt and dust can reduce the efficiency of even the best bagless vacuum cleaner on the market.
